Frequency is in Hertz(Hz)- Musical Notes from 4Hz to 33Khz
Oct. C# / Db D D# / Eb E F F# / Gb G G# /Ab A A# / Bb B C Oct.
These General Midi Instruments produce
Ocarina (79) modulated Sine wave ~~~
Lead 1 (80) modulated Square wave -_-_-
Lead 2 (81) modulated Sawtooth wave /\/\

Music programs can limit notes to a range
of: Db(0) 8.6Hz to G(10) 12.5Khz

For Notes below 8hz use the
"Drum Kit" or "Percussion" instruments

For notes above 12.5Khz
use a dedicated signal generator

Using a Midi interface / Card to generate reference tones is possible by "pitch bending" the appropiate note(s)
e.g. "C" at the 6th octave is 1046.502hz, this can be "pitch wheeled" bent down to ~1000Hz (1Khz) 1000.399hz.
